December Already!!

Its been awhile but like I said before its more fun stitching then recording! Here’s a little update about what’s been going on since August.

September – Geelong Fibre Forum.
Decided to trade as well as do a class – Jacinta Leishman’s Alchemy. Lots of fun and very busy covering a variety of techniques. Trading was good and it was great to meet a lot of people I’ve only talked to over the net.

Geelong work 1    Geelong 2

Some of the work from Geelong.

November – Embroidering the future Conference
Lots on embroidery in fashion which was fantastic. The MC’s goldwork suit was a sight for delight. Varied speakers from NZ, Aust and the UK. Pity they choose to ignore the HUGE lesiure industry as a source of potential employment for young designers. Not a lot of talk about the future, felt that we just touched the tip of the ice berg when talking about encouraging the under 30s into embroidery.

Gridlocked – My first exhibition with the textile group Decifemme
The real reason everything else was put on hold as I madly stitched everything to get finished for this. It opened Nov 25 and closed Dec 9. Was on Gallery duty on Thursdays up at Summertown. We all enjoyed the exhibtion and are glad to get the first one done. Decifemme started late in 2006 and is a group of 10 women  (i.e. deci (10) – femme (women) ) interested in textiles. Not all could exhibit for the first time but we’re booked to do SALA (South Australian Living Artists) next year so watch out for that exhibtion.

December – Time to catch up and relax
Anniversary time saw myself and partner Greg off to Clare for a lovely weekend while junior was off to the local Xmas pagent with Nanna. A good weekend was had by all. Also caught up with the Fabric of Society (cloth doll club). Generally just taking time out in Dec after a very busy last 3 months.

New Year’s Resolution – to blog at least once a week!
Missed doing the last part of TAST as I had to concentrate on Gridlocked. Sharon B’s new challenge looks good. For details look at Sharon B’s Blog.
